Fourth annual Knox Rox concert supports seniors, offers family fun

The fourth annual Knox Rox benefit concert held April 27 was a tremendous success, generating proceeds to help local nonprofits that provide crucial support and resources to seniors in need.

Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation and Daily Living Center play pivotal roles in our community, providing crucial support and resources to seniors in need. The funds raised were split between the two nonprofits and on May 22, a check for $4,839 was presented by Hillcrest Healthcare to Daily Living Center at its location in North Knoxville.

On May 22, 2024, a check for $4,839 was presented by Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation to Daily Living Center.

The Knox Rox event featuring Lavonda & the 865 Bandits – a band made up of healthcare professionals – continues to evolve, adding new touches and vendors, but keeps delivering a fun, affordable family event.

The event, held at 865 Axe Throwing, included axe throwing, delicious food by 2 Coaches Catering, a vendor booth with beautiful jewelry from Kendra Scott jewelry, drinks and of course, foot-tapping tunes. The music and staging were supported by True Grip & Lighting and Gregg Audio and Production.

“Every year, a dedicated team of individuals make Knox Rox a success, and I think that it keeps getting better,” said Lavonda Cantrell, Hillcrest Healthcare’s vice president of marketing and communities and Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation. “We send our heartfelt thanks to everyone who planned, executed and attended the event, which keeps making a positive impact for seniors in our community.”

The Knox Rox benefit concert supports both the Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation and another deserving local organization. Daily Living Center is a component of the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee Office on Aging that provides licensed adult day services. Its mission is to provide community-based services to Knox County residents ages 60 or older to develop or improve daily living skills, foster independence through social interaction and allow individuals to remain in their home and in the community as long as possible. The center serves seniors Monday-Friday, offering meals, group games, music and art therapy, exercise, memory activities and reminiscing, as well as special celebrations and movie days.

Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation promotes healthcare delivery in the Knoxville community by funding indigent care, advanced pharmaceuticals, new technology and equipment and educational programs to patients and residents of Hillcrest Healthcare. Its philanthropic support allows Hillcrest Healthcare to offer and broaden a comprehensive array of health-related services to elders and disabled individuals.

“Knoxville’s senior services community is a tightly knit group of caring individuals and organizations who work every day to improve the lives of seniors,” said Barry Davis, president and CEO of Hillcrest Healthcare. “It’s so rewarding to offer the community a fun, family-friendly event that provides needed funds to positively impact vulnerable populations and raise awareness about local senior care services. I thank everyone involved and am thrilled to support Daily Living Center and Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation.”
